Dear Parents:
Our school did not make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for this year in
Math based on
guidelines established under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001
(NCLB). According to
the NCLB Law, 77.2% of the students in every subgroup must score at level
3 and 4 on
the End of Grade (EOG) test in Math for the school to make AYP. We will
enter Title I
School Improvement because we have not met all of our targets two years
in a row in
Math for some of our students. New reading tests were administered in
2007 -08 statewide
and those results will be available in November.
Since Zebulon Elementary did not meet AYP requirements under the federal
No Child
Left Behind Law, we are required to offer transfer options. If you want
your child to
remain at Zebulon Elementary, you do not need
to take any additional action. If you
wish to transfer your child, you may request a transfer to one of the
following schools:
1. Carver Elementary
2. Wakelon Elementary
To request a school transfer, you will need to complete a "Request
for School Transfer"
form http://www.wcpss.net/forms/transfer-2008-09-en.pdf
for each child and return the
form to Growth Management at 3600 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.
Choice
options are limited, based on eligible schools, program availability,
and transportation
patterns.
